Consultant Q&A
Our consultants receive a personalized experience with our talent and client teams that connect you with assignments based on your skills, experience, interests and career goals. Consultants also have access to our diverse community of marketing consultants, which allows them to collaborate, share best practices and network with one another. If consultants are placed through our Contract service, they become W2 employees of Antenna, giving them the opportunity to access a suite of employee benefits such as healthcare, 401k matching and PTO.
Unlike transactional staffing firms and outdated consulting models, we provide a human-centered approach built around the relationships we build with our consultants, focus exclusively on marketing, offer four distinct placement options and do work for the best brands a marketer could ask for - including 3M, Be the Match, Bright Health, Cargill, Code42, General Mills, Ulteig, Medtronic and UnitedHealth Group.
Consultants partner with Antenna to work with our clients in four different ways.
- Contract: short or long term contractors embedded into a team to perform a specific role.
- Project: project-based consulting based on scope and deliverables.
- Leadership: interim or fractional leaders defining marketing strategy and managing execution.
- Direct Hire: recruitment services to get you placed in a permanent role.
Within each of these options, there are a wide variety of assignment types - ranging from analytics to marketing communications to digital strategy. We have well over 50 clients in our portfolio across multiple industries including healthcare, financial services and consumer goods. Contract placements usually happen with our large clients, whereas Project and Leadership placements are often with small to medium sized companies. Small business clients mostly frequently partner with Antenna for Direct Hire placement.
If you’re interested in a Contract placement, visit our job listings page. If you’re interested in Project, Leadership or Direct Hire, tell us about yourself to make sure we are aware of your interest. If we find an opportunity that might be a fit for you, we’ll reach out. From there, it starts with a conversation. We learn about your experience, what you’re great at and what work you’re interested in. As soon as we find an opportunity we think could be a good fit, we’ll reach out. It’s important to be patient; finding the right fit takes time.
While our client team is in constant pursuit of identifying assignments for our consultants, the amount of work you do with us is dependent on a variety of factors including client timelines, assignment types and how your skill set and interests align with the opportunity. Which means the time it takes us to connect you with an opportunity could be as quick as a few weeks, or potentially take several months. It’s important to be patient; finding the right fit takes time.
The advantages of partnering with Antenna versus looking for work on your own depend on which placement option is the best fit for you and our clients.
For Contract, consultants are W-2 employees of Antenna, which means they’re eligible to receive benefits such as healthcare, 401k matching and paid time off.
For Project and Leadership consultants, generating new business is one of the biggest challenges independent consultants face. In addition to helping bring new business to Project and Leadership consultants, we handle all aspects of client administration and coordination, including communication, contract terms and collecting payment on their behalf.
Whether you’re a few years into your career, mid-way through, or an executive-level leader, Antenna offers a variety of placement options for marketers. Joining our community as a consultant is a great way to gain experience early on in your career with Contract placements, whereas experienced marketing leaders are usually better fit for our Project, Leadership and Direct Hire placements.
At the beginning of our partnership, it’s important for us to understand your income goals. Ideally, you come prepared to our initial conversation with your salary requirements and / or hourly rate. Our expectation is that your compensation and hourly rate represent market rates, which will help us connect you to assignments that best fit both your financial and career goals.
For Contract, consultants are W-2 employees of Antenna, which means they’re eligible to receive benefits such as healthcare, 401k matching and paid time off. It’s not uncommon for consultants to have their first contract assignment with Antenna.
Most of Antenna’s more experienced Project and Leadership consultants have established their own business entity (often referred to as “1099 consultants”). Given the nature of our Project and Leadership services, we only work with established consultants.
Every Antenna consultant has a dedicated Client Development Director, who partners with you to make sure assignments are a good fit, that you’re regularly getting client feedback and to work through any opportunities or challenges that we come across together.
Anywhere from three months to more than one year. Our clients oftentimes extend our Contract and Leadership consultant’s assignments, but the duration of the full assignment is determined by the client. For Project consultants, most assignments last 8-12 weeks and can also be extended.
Before your assignment ends, you will connect with your dedicated Client Development Director to get your resume updated and begin the process of looking for another role. However, it’s common for there to be gaps between assignments, so we encourage our consultants to plan accordingly.
Yes. This type of situation is referred to as “contract-to-hire” and our clients are able to extend full-time employment offers to our consultants. Our team always has your career goals top-of-mind and regularly on the lookout to do what’s best for you and our clients.
You have two options. You can view the current job opportunities or tell us about yourself. If we find a placement opportunity that you might be a fit for, we’ll be in touch.
